F U Monday

Today has been a messed up Monday so I haven't got
any makeup to show today.
Right now there's so many things to think about so
now I'm just going to relax and do nothing.

Myths

Myths about makeup & makeup artists.

Myth 1.
Eyeliner makes your eyes look smaller.
It really depends on how you use it and what shape your eyes have.
I have small and round eyes so I make my eyes more oblong
and bigger with eyeliner. I often just apply it from the outer corner
of the lid and work my way to the middle. Then I make a "wing".
After that I continue to work between and inside the lower lashline.
If I want a more natural look, I don't work all the way in to the
inner corner of the eye. I make it kind of short. But then I can
make like a mini, really blend & discreet, triangle in the corners.
My eyeliner is thickest in the outer corners. Works for me!

Me to the right.

Myth 2.
Foundation isn't good for your skin.
This depends on which foundation you use. I buy mine at Make Up Store
because it lasts long (6 months for me) and contains vitamines and other
good stuff. It's better to have a foundation like this than nothing in your face
since we have so much dirt in the air. I rather have a foundation than exhaust gases.

Myth 3.
If I want to look more tanned I'll just use a darker foundation.
A big no no! The first thing people notice is for sure not that you look tanned,
they notice how ridiculous you look. It often looks uneven and messy.
And ofcourse you will get the dark line by your jaw. And if you makeup your
neck you will still get the line but lower and you will mess up your clothes.
Buy a foundation that matches your skincolor and use instead bronzingpowders
and/or blushes. It looks a lot more natural. Brush it on your cheeks, chins,
by the hairline, nose, temples etc. But then there is a technique for every shape
of the head. If you wish I can blog about that some time.

Myth 4.
All makeup contains bad stuff & chemical substances.
As I wrote in "Myth 2", this isn't true. There are for sure some
brands that have "bad" makeup but in most cases you can look up what makeup
contains and if you are unsure of some ingredient you can always google it.

The lipsticks at Make Up Store contains, among others, moisturizing avocado oil.

Myth 5.
If you don't get any makeup on your hands,
you haven't done your makeup nicely.
The place I think you should have makeup on (beside your face) is on top
of your hand. It's a good place to warm up your creamy products to make
them more easy to use and applying it, with your brushes.
We do have a lot of bacterias on our hands so it isn't wrong to apply our
makeup with our hands but you will get bacterias in your face.
The makeup can also become uneven so I think brushes are the best solution.
If you find it difficult to use brushes, just keep on using them. Some say that
when they use foundation brushes it becomes like "lines" in the face.
It has probably something to do with your technique. There are also stippling brushes
that you can use in a circle motion to get rid off the "lines".

Here is the right place to warm up your creamy products.

Myth 6.
A good makeup artist won't get the eyeshadow to fall down
on the cheeks/under the eye as applying it.
False. It depends on 1. How dry your skin are. 2. How much eyeshadow
you get on your brush. 3. The quality of the eyeshadow. 4. The quality
of the brush. 5. If you are using eyeprimer.
And still sometimes it happens.
Solution:
1. Use the right kind of eyecreme in the right way. 2. When you have
got eyeshadow on your brush, just carefully dust some off. 3. Don't use
the worst eyeshadow in the entire world. 4. Don't use the worst brushes
in the entire world. 5. Use eyeprimer.
But as I said, it still happens. Mostly with loose eyeshadows & dark eyeshadows.
Apply a lot of powder below your eyes before applying your eyemakeup.
Then the shadows will fall on the powder and when you're finished with the
eyemakeup you can just sweep it off!

Malin shows you how!

Myth 7.
Water moists the skin.
Water dries out the skin. But not when you drink it.

Myth 8.
It doesn't matter which kind of cremes I use & where I apply them.
This is really important! First ask someone to help you if you're not sure
about what type of skin you have (dry, oily etc). Then do not use for example
bodylotion in the face or moisturizer for the face on the eyes. Our skin
is different depending where on the body it is. Around and on the eyes it's
really sensitive and thin. So an another creme on the eyes than eyecreme
will give you dark circles and puffiness. Not only that or that a body lotion
can make you really oily in the face but the molecules are too big in the bodycreme
so it won't go deep in your skin in your face.

Myth 9.
It's OK to wash off your makeup with soap & water.
As I mentioned before, water dries out your skin. Soap isn't made to be in
the face and specially not in/on the eyes. If you're lazy buy a simple
cleanser that is both for the face & the eyes. It will even take shorter time
than if you use soap & water. And it's good for your face.

Myth
10.
I have been told that my colors are "autumn"
(or summer, spring, winter) so I can't use some makeup colors.
You may use what you feel like to use. But it's true that some colors
will fit you better. But maybe not in the "autumun" way. You can choose
for example if you want to bring out your eyecolor you should choose
an eyeshadow that goes in contrast with your eyes. You can also ask yourself
if you prefer silver or gold jewelry. If you prefer silver you will like more cold colors.
In a short term, the colors you like the most will probably look best on you
since you will wear them with joy.

Make my lashes reach the sky

O.K. I really really really want one of these mascaras!
I have heard so good things about Deborah's mascaras
so I have to try one! They are also kind of cheap which
suits my student wallet perfect.
